Beekman Place, New York City
Beekman Place is a historical residential neighborhood in the Upper Midtown part of Manhattan, New York City. It is a two-block enclave developed into townhouses and small apartments in the 1920's. This exclusive neighborhood was the home of several famous personalities including Gloria Vanderbilt, Rex Harrison, Irving Berlin and a number of the Rockefeller clan.
Among the developments at Beekman Place includes Turtle Bay Gardens, with its restored brownstone houses from the 1860's behind a lovely Italianate garden. Film stars Tyrone Power and Katharine Hepburn had their homes here.
One of the most exciting addition to Beekman Place is Beekman Tower at 8 Spruce Street.
How to reach Beekman Place
Take the 6 train to the 51st Street subway station. Walk east along East 51st Street until you reach Beekman Place at the end of it.
