Bellevue was founded in 1869 by William Meydenbauer. Its name means "beautiful view" in French. Bellevue is today an exciting, fast-developing town. It has one of the largest shopping centers in the state, called Bellevue Square. The area continues to grow as the largest shopping and dining destination on Seattle Eastside.
