Bowling Green is the county seat of Warren County. The city was founded in 1798 and served as the provisional capital of the Confederate government of Kentucky. It experiences a humid subtropical climate. Warmest month is July, when the average high temperature rises to 89°F (32°C). Coldest month is January, when the average low temperature drops to 25°F (-4°C). Bowling Green gets the most rain in May, at 5.36 in (136 mm).

Bowling Green is the home of the Chevrolet Corvette assembly plant. It also has a National Corvette Museum since 1994.
