Chanin Building is a 56-storey skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It is located at 122 East 42nd Street, at the corner of Lexington Avenue.
The Chanin Building was constructed in 1929 by Irwin S. Chanin, a leading real estate developer. It was designed by Sloan & Robertson in the Art Deco style, in cooperation with Chanin's own architect, Jacques Delamarre. The building is embellished with sculptures by René Paul Chambellan.
At the base of the Chanin Building is a bronze band with patterns of birds, fish, flowers and foliage. It covers the whole length of the façade. Inside are reliefs done by René Chambellan. On the vestibule are reliefs that document Chanin's career.
How to reach Chanin Building
