Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum is one of the biggest design museum in the world. It is located at 2 East 91st Street, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. The museum has a good collection of ceramics, glass, furniture and textiles.

The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum occupies the former residence of industrialist Andrew Carnegie. It overlooks Central Park, and is across the road from the Church of the Heavenly Rest.

The museum exhibits the collection of the three Hewitt sisters, Amy, Eleanor and Sarah, who were the granddaughters of industrialist Peter Cooper and daughters of Abram S. Hewitt, the Mayor of New York in 1887-88. It was housed at Cooper Union until 1967, when the Smithsonian Institution acquired the collection and relocated it to the mansion offered by the Carnegie Corporation.

How to reach the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum

The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum is located at No. 2, East 91st Street. Take the 4, 5 or 6 train to the 86th Street subway station. Walk west along East 86th Street until junction with Fifth Avenue. Turn right, walk north along Fifth Avenue until you arrive at the Cooper-Hewit National Design Museum after the junction of East 90th Street.
