Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the only national park in Ohio, was established on 11 October, 2000, along the Cuyahoga River. Covering 32,947 acres (133 sq km) between Akron and Cleveland, Cuyahoga Valley National Park preserves the rural area of Ohio.

Cuyahoga Valley has been a recreational spot since the late 19th century, when people went there for boat rides along the canal. It was a way for city folks to enjoy the greenery of nature. The park has many trails ideal for hiking and bicycling. Among the features of the park include waterfalls, caves and rolling hills.

 A major trail through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath trail. It passes through a number of sites of natural and historic significance. The trail follows the historic route of the Ohio & Erie Canal, which improved transporation of farm produce. Today's visitors can retrace the path of 19th century farmers and canal boats.

If you are coming from Akron and the south, take Interstate 77 and follow Exit 125A to Ohio State Highway 8 North towards Cuyahoga Falls. Continue another 12.6 miles then exit to Boston Mills Road. Now head west for 3.4 miles. Look for the Boston Store Visitor Center to your left. It is a white two-story building with its porch wrapped around it. Immediately after it is M.D. Garage. The visitor center, at 1548 Boston Mills Road, is open year round from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. There is no entrance fee to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, but you are free to donate if you may.
