E.V. Haughwout Building is a beautiful mid 19th century building at the intersection of Broadway and Broome Street, in SoHo, Manhattan, New York City. Located at 488-492 Broadway, it was constructed in 1857 for E.V. Haughwout, a company selling fine china and glassware, and counted among its clients the White House.

The building façade comprises rows of windows framed by arches between columns, and flanked by more columns. It was the first building in New York City to use Otis's steam-driven safety elevator, a prototype that eventually made possible the construction of skyscrapers. One of the most attractive features of the building is its use of cast iron. The building derives its appearance from the Sansovino Library of Venice. The E.V. Haughwout Building was designated a New York City landmark in 1965, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Its façade underwent restoration under Joseph Pell Lombardi in 1995.
