Guam is an unincorporated organized territory of the United States of America located in the western Pacific Ocean. Guam is part and in fact the largest and southernmost island of the Mariana Islands, as well as the largest island in Micronesia. Guam covers an area of 212 sq mi (549 sq km), and measures 30 miles (48 km) in length and 4 miles (6 km) in width.

Guam has a population of 178,000 (2010 estimate). Its capital is Hagåtn˜a while its largest village is Dededo. The island is believed to have been populated for thousands of years, with the earliest settlers being peoples from the Indonesian archipelago around 2000 BC. The history of the island is steep in mythology not in keeping with archaeological evidence.
Guam is the nearest land mass to the Mariana Trench, in which is located the Challenger Deep, the deepest point in the oceans, at 10,911 meters (35,797 feet) below sea level. The highest point in Guam is Mount Lamlam, which stands at 1,322 feet (406 meters).
Guam enjoys a tropical marine climate. It is usually hot and humid throughout the year, with mean high temperature at 86°F (30°C) and low of 76°F (24°C). There is a dry season from December to June, and a wet season from July to November. Guam is often hit by typhoons, especially in October and November.

Budget Travel to Guam
Entry requirements to Guam is the same as to the United States itself. U.S. nationals do not need a visa, though they may need an ESTA travel authorization.
Most visitors to Guam arrive by plane at the Won Pat Guam International Airport (GUM). This is the only civilian gateway to Guam. There are regular scheduled flights provided by Continental Micronesia connecting Guam with Honolulu.
The most practical way to move about in Guam is to drive. You should consider renting a car upon arrival as public transport is not adequate.
