Harrison Street is a street in the TriBeCa neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. What we come here to see is the beautifully restored Federal townhouses. They have pitched roofs and dormer windows, making them look like they were a backdrop of a movie set.
The townhouses at Harrison Street were constructed between the late 18th century to the early 19th. One of them were the work of John McComb Jr, New York's first major native-born architect.
The townhouses at Harrison Street were not built in situ. Rather they were moved here from their original location on Washington Street, in order to save them from being pulled down. The Landmarks Preservation Commission stepped in just in time to rescue the buildings.
How to reach Harrison Street
Take the 1 train to the Franklin Street subway station. Walk west on Franklin Street until intersection with Hudson Street. Turn left and walk south down Hudson street until you reach the intersection with Harrison Street on the right.Return to New York City Attractions
