Hartford is the state capital and third largest city in Connecticut, USA. It is located on the banks of the Connecticut River, and is the second largest city along the river after Springfield, Massachusetts. The population of Hartfield is now around 125,000 (2011 estimate) while the population of the Greater Hartford metropolitan area stands at around 1.2 million.

The city of Hartford covers 18 sq mi (46.5 sq km) while the Greater Hartford area covers 469 sq mi (1,216 sq km). It experiences a Humid continental climate with hot summers and cold winters accompanied by heavy snow. Thunderstorms are common during summer, often including hail, though tornadoes are rare.

Hartford is home to many big insurance company, leading it to be called the Insurance Capital of the World. Founded in 1637, it is today one of the oldest cities in the country, and is also the home to Bushnell Park, the oldest public park, and Hartford Public, the second-oldest secondary school in the country.
