More on Kansas

The first European to arrive in Kansas was Francisco Vásquez de Coronado, who explored the area in 1541. It was one of the states that was brought into the United States through the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.

Being a largely rural agricultural state, Kansas is one of the slowest growing in the country in terms of population. This is also the result of rural flight with migration of the population from the countryside to the cities.
