Kerrville is a city in central Texas. It covers 16.9 sq mi (43.9 sq km) and has a population of 20,500 people (2011 estimate). The city straddles the Guadalupe River, in the Texas Hill Country.

The Kerrville area has been inhabited by various Native American tribes going back as far as 10,000 years ago. One of the earliest European settlers in the area was shinglemaker Joshua Brown, who settled with with other shinglemakers. The village was originally called Brownsborough, but Joshua Brown later renamed it after his friend Major James Kerr.By the mid 19th century, Kerrville was growing rapidly. The richest man in town was philantrophist Charles A Schreiner, who owned almost half of all the businesses in town. His opulent home is today the site of Hill Country Museum.
Today Kerrville has a diversified economy that includes agriculture, light manufacturing, health care, education, the arts and tourism. It has been described by the Wall Street Journal as one of the wealthiest small towns in America.
