Kodiak is a town on Kodiak Island in Alaska. The island measures 6,560 sq mi (16,990 sq km) while the town occupies just 5.4 sq mi (9.5 km) of it. Nonetheless close to half the people of Kodiak Island live in Kodiak town.

The original inhabitants of Kodiak were the Alutiiq natives who have lived there for seven thousand years. In the 18th century Russian immigrants created a settlement of Kodiak AK and made it the capital of Russian Alaska. After Alaska was purchased by the United States, Kodiak became a commercial fishing center. Today the town's economy is also supported by tourism.

Kodiak experiences subpolar oceanic climate. The warmest months are July and August, when the temperature may rise above 60.5°F (15.8°C). January is the coldest month, with the average temperature dropping to 24.7°F (-4.06°C). October and January are the wettest months with 8.36 in (212mm) and 8.17 in (207.5 mm) of precipitation respectively.

You can only reach Kodiak by either sea or air. Most people choose to fly in and arrive at Kodiak Airport (ADQ), some 4 nautical miles from the town center. It is served by Alaska Airlines and Era Aviation.
