Lee's Summit is a city in central western Missouri. It is located to the southeast of Kansas City. With a population of 91,000 people, it is the sixth largest city in the Kansas City metropolitan area as well as the sixth largest in Missouri. It is located in Jackson County, with some neighborhoods in Cass County.

Lee's Summit was originally called Town of Strother. It was founded by William B. Howard in 1865, and named after his wife, Maria D. Strother. However the people there wanted the town named after another person, an early settler named Dr Pleasant John Graves Lea, who was killed in 1962 by guerillas known as the Kansas Jayhawkers. The name they chose was Lea's Summit, but they misspelled it, so it became Lees Summit. In 1868, the town petitioned that it be incorporated as the Town of Lee's Summit.
Lee's Summit experiences a humid subtropical climate. Hottest month is July, when the average high temperature rises to 87°F (31°C). Coldest month is January, when average low temperature ofv 23°F (-5°C). Lee's Summit gets the most rain in June, at 5.47 in (138.9 mm).

Lee's Summit's historic downtown is a reconstruction after the original was razed in a fire in 1880.

Built in 1903 to replace two earlier depots that was razed, the depot today houses the Historical Society Museum.
- St Paul's Episcopal Church
Built in 1884, the church is today listed in the National Registe3r of Historic Places since 1985.
