Mount Lemmon is a 9,157-foot mountain in Arizona. It is one of the peaks in the Santa Catalina Mountains, within the Coronado National Forest. The mountain was named after botanist Sarah Lemmon who reached the peak, with help from Native American guides, in 1881.

 The US Air Force used to have a presence on Mount Lemmon. Nowadays however the military facilities on Mount Lemmon have been handed over the the US Forest Service. There is an astronomical observatory at the peak, originally maintained by the US Air Force is now used for astronomical research.

Visiting Mount Lemmon, Arizona

It is possible to go up Mount Lemmon by road on the Catalina Highway, a winding road with many scenic viewpoints. The highway maintains a speed limit of 35 mph (56 kph) for safety reasons.
