If you are into things-fire fighting, then this is the museum for you. It exhibits equipment and memorabilia related to fire fighting from the 18th century to 1917. Upstairs is a line up of old fire engines from the 1890's onwards. There is also a permanent memorial to the 343 members of the New York City Fire Department / Emergency Medical Services who perished at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

How to reach the New York City Fire Museum

Take the C or E trains to the Spring Street subway station. Walk west on Spring Street. After the intersection with Varick Street, look for the museum on the left side of Spring Street. It's the building with the red doors and window frames.
