New York Life Insurance Building is a National Historic Landmark in New York City. It was designed in 1928 by Cass Gilbert, the architect famous for designing the Woolworth Building.

The New York Life Insurance Building is 40 storeys tall, and has a height of 615 feet (187 meters). The architectural style combines Gothic with Moderne. It occupies the entire city block between 26th Street and 27th Street. The site used to be occupied by P.T. Barnum's Hippodrome in 1874. Then in 1879, the first Madison Square Garden was located there. The second Madison Square Garden, designed by Stanford White, was also rebuilt there in 1890.

The New York Life Insurance Building is topped with a golden pyramid roof, but you would not be able to see it clearly from street level.
