Ohio is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States of America. It covers an area of 44,825 sq mi (116,096 sq km), ranking it the 34th biggest state out of the 50. Ohio is almost square, measuring 220 miles (355 km) from east to west as well as from north to south. Its highest point is Campbell Hill, standing at a height of 1,550 ft (472 m).

Ohio was part of Northwest Territory until its admittance into the Union on 1 March, 1803, being the 17th state to join the United States. It is located in the Eastern time zone, and is often abbreviated OH.

By Road
Interstate highway 80 (which combines with Interstate 90) runs across the northern part of Ohio, serving Toledo, Akron and Cleveland. Going through central Ohio is Interstate 70, passing through Dayton and Columbus. Running diagonally from southwest to northeast is Interstate 71, connecting Cincinnati with Columbus and Cleveland. Interstate 75 runs on the western part of Ohio connecting Cincinnati with Toledo.
