Paramount Building, which houses the Paramount Theater, is a New York City landmark on Times Square. When it opened in 1926, it was the venue for showcasing works by Paramount Pictures as well as live performances. In 1965 it was converted into an office block.
The Paramount Building was designed by the Chicago architectural firm of Rapp and Rapp to be the headquarters of Paramount Pictures. It opened on 19 November, 1926. The building has a large four-faced clock near the top. At the pinnacle of the building is an ornamental globe.
Among the tenants at the Paramount Building include Hard Rock Café New York, Paramount Cafe, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and Levi's.
The Paramount Building was designated a city landmark in 1988 by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.
How to reach the Paramount Building
Take the 1, 2 or 3 train to the Times Square / 42nd Street subway station. Walk north along Seventh Avenue until intersection of West 43rd Street. Paramount Building is on the left side of Seventh Avenue after the intersection.Return to New York City Attractions
