Riverside is a city in Riverside County, in Southern California. With a population of 301,000 (2011 estimate), it is the fourth largest inland city in California after Fresno, Sacramento and Bakersfield.

Riverside was founded in the 1870's beside the Santa Ana River. It was where the California citrus industry had its start, when navel oranges were planted there just a few years after the town was established.

Riverside has a semi-arid meriterranean climate. Its summers are hot and dry while its winters and mild and slightly wet. Summer temperature may exceed 95°F (35°C) while winter temperatures may dip to 42.1°F (5.6°C).
