Saint Cloud is the most populous city in central Minnesota. The county seat of Stearns County, it covers 30.9 sq mi (80.1 sq km) and has a population of 66,000 people (2011 estimate). The city was named after the city of Saint-Cloud near Paris, France. Saint Cloud, Minnesota, is located some 65 miles (105 km) from Minneapolis-Saint Paul.

Located on the Mississippi River, Saint Cloud is one of the fastest growing cities in Minnesota. Its metropolitan area is presently the third most populous in the state behind Minneapolis-Saint Paul and Duluth-Superior, and slightly ahead of the Rochester metropolitan area.
Originally the homeland of the Winnebago tribe of Native Americans, the Saint Cloud area began receiving European settlers after the treaty with the Indians in 1851. It began as a waystation for the wagon trail between Canada and Saint Paul.

- Cathedral of Saint Mary
Mother church of the Roman Catholic diocese of Saint Cloud. The church was built in the 1920s in the Italian Romanesque style.
- Paramount Theatre and Visual Arts Center
Theater built in 1921 and since restored. It can accommodate 1,700 spectators.

Public park developed from the site of twenty former quarries.
