San Diego is a city in southern California, USA. With a population of 1.3 million people, it is the second largest city in California after Los Angeles and the fifth wealthiest city in the United States.

More on San Diego CA
The area where San Diego is located was discovered by explorer Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo in 1542. He named the site San Miguel. Later in 1602, another explorer Sebastián Vizcaíno arrived there and renamed it San Diego. On 12 November of that year, the first Christian religious service was conducted there in conjunction with the Feast of San Diego.
Today San Diego is a highly industrialized city with its economy based on agriculture, biotechnology, biosciences, computer sciences, electronics, telecommunications, financial services, and more. It is the site of the University of California San Diego (UCSD).
Being located by the coast, San Diego experiences relatively uniform temperature throughout the year. The warmest months are July to September with average daily highs of around 77°F. Colest months are January and February woth average nighly lows reaching 50°F.

Budget Travel to San Diego
By Plane
San Diego International Airport (SAN) is just 10 minutes from downtown San Diego. The airport receives mostly domestic flights, with the only international flights coming from Mexico and Canada. Ground transport from the airport includes the airport shuttle which costs $15 for a trip downtown. Alternatively you can take the Metro Bus No. 992 for just $2.25 to downtown San Diego.
In addition to San Diego International Airport, you can also use McClellan-Palomar Airport (CLD) and Tijuana International Airport (TIJ).
By Train
You can reach San Diego from Los Angeles on Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner train. It goes to the Santa Fe Depot in downtown San Diego.
Budget Travel within San Diego
Public transport in San Diego comprises the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) buses and the San Diego Trolley light rail transit.
The bus fare is between $2.25 to $2.50 while the trolley fare is from $1.25 to $3 depending on distance. You can also buy day passes that can be used on both the buses and the trolley for $5.00 a day.
