Scottsbluff is a city in Scotts Bluff County, in the Nebraska Panhandle in western Nebraska. It covers 5.9 sq mi (15.4 sq km) and has a population of 15,000 people (2011 estimate), making it the 13th largest city in the state.

Scottsbluff is 3,891 ft (1,186 m) above sea level. It experiences a semi-arid climate. Hottest month is July, with average high temperature of 89.8°F (32.1°C). Coldest month is January, when the average low temperature drops to 11.8°F (-11.2°C). May is the wettest month, receiving 2.772 in (70.4 mm) of rain.

As with the county itself, the city of Scottsbluff was named after Scotts Bluff, a massive rock formation in the area. It rises to 830 ft (330 m), and is today protected as part of the Scotts Bluff National Monument.
