Sheridan Square, New York City
Sheridan Square is a square that marks the heart of Greenwich Village, Manhattan.
Sheridan Square does not quite live up to its name, for it is triangular rather than square. It is bordered by West 4th Street, West Washington Place and Barrow Street.
Sheridan Square was named after a civil war hero, General Philip Sheridan. You can see his statue at the nearby, also triangular, Christopher Square.
How to reach Sheridan Square
Take the 1 train to the Christopher Street/Sheridan Square subway station. Emerging to ground level, walk down W 4th Street for a short distance, and you will reach Sheridan Square on your left.
