The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine is a Catholic shrine to the first native-born American to be canonized by the Catholic Church. It is located at 7 State Street, in Lower Manhattan, New York City.
Elizabeth Ann Seton (1774-1821), better known as Mother Seton, lived in New York City from 1801 to 1821. She was the founder of the American Sisters of Charity, the first order of nuns in the United States.

Following the American Civil War, the Mission of Our Lady of the Rosary turned the building of the American Sisters of Charity into a shelter for homeless Irish immigrant women. The mission was instrumental in assisting about 170,000 newly arrivals as they adapted to a new life in America. The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary was built in 1883. The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine there was maintained by the Mission.
How to reach the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine
Take the R or W trains to the Whitehall Street-South Ferry Station, or the 1 train to the South Ferry Station. The shrine is open Mondays to Fridays from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Mass are held here at 8.05 am, 12:15 pm and 1:05 pm Mondays to Fridays, and 11:00 am Sundays.
