St Peter's Church is a church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York. Located at 22 Barclay Street, it is the oldest Roman Catholic parish in the city. It was originally intended to be at Broad Street, which was the heart of 18th century New York City. However, due to anti-Catholic sentiments, the church was relocated to the corner of Barclay and Church Streets, which was still in the outskirts.

St Peter's Church dates back to 1785 with the first solemn Mass celebrated there in 1786. The present church in the Greek Revival style dates to 1836. It was designed by Thomas Thomas and John R Hagarty, and completed in 1840. The building was designated a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1965.

Like many of the buildings in Lower Manhattan, St Peter's Church was damaged during the September 11, 2001, attacks, particular because it was hig by a portion of the landing gear.

The World Trade Center cross - a cross of two steel beams - was installed on the Church Street side of the church on 5 October 2006, until it was relocated to the World Trade Center Memorial. A new cross was then commissioned to stand in its place, and was installed on August 11, 2011. Services are held there at the following times:

  • Weekend Mass Times: Sat: 4pm; Sun: 8am, 9:30am, 12pm
  • Weekday Mass Times: (English): M-F: 7:10am, 7:45am, 12:05pm, 1:05pm
