Strawberry Fields is a 2.5-acre section of Central Park. This landscaped garden was designed by Bruce Kelly for Yoko Ono, who funded the project as a tribute to her husband John Lennon.

 Strawberry Fields was inaugurated on 9 October 1985, on what would have been Lennon's 45th birthday. Its entrance is at Central Park West, at West 72nd Street, facing the Dakota Apartment where Lennon was living, and near where he was murdered.

The memorial at Strawberry Fields is on a tringular piece of land, with a circular tiled area of mosaic. The design on the mosaic is a reproduction of the design from ancient Pompeii. At the center is the word "Imagine", the title of Lennon's famous song. It was laid by Portuguese craftsmen as a gift from the city of Lisbon.
