Trump Building is a 70-storey skyscraper in Lower Manhattan. It was originally known as The Bank of the Manhattan Company building as well as the Manhattan Company Building and 40 Wall Street. It was renamed Trump Building in 1995, after it was bought by Donald Trump. It is located between Nassau Street and William Street in Manhattan, New York City.

At the time of its construction in 1928, 40 Wall Street was one of the contenders for the title of world's tallest building. It was in a race with the Chrysler Building, and was completed in 1930 after only 11 months of construction.

The Trump Building, at the time it was designed, was planned to be 135 feet (41 metres) taller than the nearby Woolworth Building, which was the tallest in New York City since 1913. It was also designed to be two feel taller than Chrysler Building's planned height of 925 feet. Its pinnacle reaches 927 feet (282.5m), making it the tallest building in the world for a brief moment. However the architect and developers of the Chrysler Building secretly increased its height, and surpassed 40 Wall Street that same year, only to be surpassed the following year by the Empire State Building.

Donald Trump had repeatedly mentioned (on episode 9 of season 4 of The Apprentice, in The Billionaire Inside, and in the book Donald Trump - Strategies for Real Estate) that he paid just $1 million for the building, but has attempted to sell it for $300 million in 2003. He had also valued it at $400 million in 2005 and $600 million in 2007.

The Trump Building was designated a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1998.
