Tudor City is an apartment complex in Manhattan, New York City. Bordered by East 41st Street, East 43rd Street, First Avenue and Second Avenue, Tudor City was designed to be a city-within-a-city for middle-class residents by the Fred F. French Company. It holds the distinction of being the first residential skyscraper complex in the world.

Before Tudor City was developed between 1925-8, the area was a working class neighborhood dominated by tenements and slums. It was earlier known as Goat Hill because of the goats bred there.

Tudor City was the vision of real estate developed Fred F. French, who sought to create an urban Utopia with tulip gardens, small golf courses and private parks, in an effort to lure middle class New Yorkers to consider living on the East Side of Manhattan.

Despite its name, the buildings at Tudor City is more appropriately described as neo-Gothic rather than Tudor. The complex comprises 12 apartment blocks containing 3,000 apartment units housing a total of 5,000 residents. Facing 42nd Street is the rooftop signage for Tudor City.
